Bloomington Stadium will open to the public for a final time on Wednesday, June 24, from 6-8 p.m. before demolition later this summer. The stadium, located at 8900 Queen Ave S., was closed in 2025 after Jefferson and Kennedy high schools opened long-awaited stadiums at their respective campuses.

Visitors are welcome to enter the stadium to gather, take photos and reminisce on the many memories made and victories won at the decades-old field. Bloomington Stadium was home to Bloomington’s student athletes for more than 50 years, at one point hosting four football teams: Kennedy, Jefferson, the Lincoln High School Bears, and Normandale Community College. The stadium has also hosted the state high school track meet.

District leaders are preparing for the sale of the Bloomington Stadium property. While a commercial real estate consultant is facilitating the sale, the District retains the final decision-making authority on any potential offers.

At its May 26 meeting, the School Board endorsed a recommendation to demolish the physical structures in order to generate more interest and garner a better market price.
