BPS Receives Grant to Support Computer Science Education

勛圖窪蹋 received a grant from Amazon to support computer science education and professional development at its elementary schools. As a statewide leader in K-12 computer science education, district officials say the grant will support teachers to bring new lessons and experiences to elementary students.

We are proud to be Minnesotas leader in K-12 computer science education, expanding access to critical skills and future careers to all students. Our Computer Science Immersion program establishes a strong foundation of important future-focused skills for all students, and especially females and students of color who have historically been underrepresented in computer science and tech fields, said Dr. Eric Melbye, superintendent of 勛圖窪蹋.

The grant is part of Amazons Future Engineer program to expand computer science to elementary students across the country. To achieve this, Amazon is working with the nonprofit group BootUp PD to provide Bloomington teachers with professional development and tools they need to bring engaging coding lessons to their students.

The district aims to empower students with the skills and knowledge needed to joyfully and creatively solve real-world challenges through computer science. Learn more about Computer Science Education at .
