Gifted & Talented Speaker Series
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’ gifted and talented department is hosting a speaker series to help families and educators support and teach gifted students. The events are free and open to the public to attend.
Event Dates
Feb. 18: Dr. Matthew Zakreski presents "Can We All Just Get Along," focused on how making and keeping social connections can be difficult for gifted students and ways to build necessary social skills.
Note: This virtual event was cancelled, but Dr. Zakreski provided a recording and presentation.
March 18: Dr. Teresa Boatman presents, "Understanding Your Gifted Learner," focused on the academic and social learning experiences that happen for gifted children, strategies to help, and how to support yourself and families during your parenting journey.
April 10: Christine Fonseca presents, "Social and Emotional Development of Gifted Children." Fonseca is a licensed educational psychologist, author, and nationally recognized speaker.
The speaker series is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant aimed at increasing equity and access to gifted and talented programs.
BPS is celebrating 20 years of its nationally recognized gifted and talented programs, which have grown to six unique programs offering 45 gifted classes for students in grades 2-12.
