Jefferson, Kennedy seniors named National Merit Scholarship finalists
Three Bloomington high school students advanced as finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program: Jefferson seniors Charlie Grant, Adam Lueth and Kennedy senior Maisie Pederson. Finalists receive a certificate of merit and are candidates for a merit scholarship to be awarded this spring.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. About half the finalists will be selected to win one of the 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million and earn the National Merit Scholar title.
Qualifications for the 2023 National Merit Program include students taking the Preliminary SAT, which serves as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of finalists includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
