Elementary schools held their annual district-wide Battle of the Books competition, testing fifth grade students on their knowledge of books they read throughout the school year. Students from nine ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ elementary schools competed in the event held at Olson Elementary.

Each school held qualifying competitions with winning teams participating in the district Battle of the Books. Superintendent Eric Melbye served as emcee, quizzing students on story details from the books they read. Students had to correctly name the title of the book from which details were shared.

The teams from Oak Grove and Normandale Hills elementary schools advanced to the final round of questions. The Normandale Hills team of Trish Nguyen, Audrey Towey, Avery Bidelman, Lydia van Hout, and Quyen Dinh came out with a narrow victory. They took home trophies and a traveling trophy to be displayed at the school until next year’s Battle of the Books.
