School Board Meeting Recap: May 26, 2026

The School Board held its regular business meeting on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Meeting Highlights

  • The School Board endorsed the demolition of Southwood Center and Bloomington Stadium to prepare both sites for future sale. The district’s consultant believes clear sites will provide more interest and result in the highest market price when it comes to selling the properties.
  • The School Board approved a memorandum of understanding with the “The I Love U Guys” foundation to adopt the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) framework for emergency responses. This establishes common language to guide responses across all District schools and sites to strengthen consistency, clarity and coordination during any incident.
  • The School Board awarded a $2.5 million dollar contract with Pro-Tec Design for a multi-year district-wide security upgrade project. The first phase of the project will include security camera upgrades at Jefferson and Kennedy high schools.
  • The School Board approved and ratified the 2025-27 contract between BPS and the Federation of Paraprofessionals.
