Two Bloomington teachers named semifinalists for MN Teacher of the Year

Ridgeview Elementary Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) teacher Angela Fritzlar and Kennedy High School vocal music instructor Niccole Goulet Jordan have been selected as two of 25 semifinalists for Education Minnesota's 2022 Minnesota Teacher of the Year program.

Semifinalists were selected from a group of 77 nominations by a panel of 22 education, community and business leaders. The panel will select a group of 10 finalists and the teacher of the year winner will be announced in May.

Fritzlar is a seventh year special education teacher at Ridgeview. During the summer, she volunteers as an inclusion facilitator for the City of Bloomington, working with kids one-on-one and leading the adaptive softball team. Fritzlar has a Bachelor’s degree from Mankato State University in Special Education: Academic and Behavioral Strategist and a Master’s degree in Special Education. 

Jordan is in her 20th year teaching at Kennedy. She directs three curricular choirs, the Rhythm and Gold varsity show choir, an extra-curricular chamber ensemble, and is the music director for the school's annual musicals. Jordan has a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education from Concordia College - Moorhead along with a principal’s licensure and Master’s degree in Education from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
